Welcome to Think Art Loud! Let me tell you a little about myself and my blog.

My name is Laura Hepworth. I am the jewelry artist/designer/owner of Handmaden Designs LLC. I specialize in creating handcrafted, historically inspired, one-of-a-kind jewelry. Some of my favorite techniques are chainmaille, metalsmithing, Steampunk/upcycling, and wire-work.  However, jewelry is not the only art-form that I enjoy. I also love experimental digital photography, painting, drawing, digital/graphic arts, ceramics, and sculpture; someday, would love to learn stained glass work and mosaics.

All of this brings me to the point of this blog. As a lover of all things arts and crafts, I decided to create this blog to share, not just my jewelry, but all the art-forms that I enjoy. However, it’s not simply my work that I wish to share, but also the work of others.  I am a strong support of handmade artwork, and, as an artist myself, I know how hard it is to promote one’s art.  That is why I would like to help share and promote, not just my work, but also the work of others.

This is the break-down of what I plan for this blog:

-Monday: “My Art Monday”

As the name suggests, for ‘My Art Monday’ I will share a piece of my own work (be it jewelry, sculpture, digital photography, etc.) or share what’s new as regards to my jewelry or other artwork.

-Tuesday: “Transformed Treasure Tuesday”

Tuesday will be all about upcycled/recycled/repurposed artwork.  It may involve featured artist posts, themed compilation art posts, and perhaps even tutorials, links to great sites about upcycled art, or book reviews of upcycled/recycled arts and crafts books.

-Wednesday: “Wearable Wednesday”

“Wearable Wednesday” is all about jewelry, clothing, and wearable accessories. So all the artist features, book reviews, tutorials, etc. posted that day will all have something to do with jewelry, clothing, or accessories.

-Thursday: “That’s Cool! Thursday”

Thursday is really about any kind of artwork that doesn’t fall into the themes of the previous three days.

-Friday: “Free-for-all Friday”

Friday posts are going to be a mix.  They may be my own artwork (if I have some new piece that I just can’t wait till Monday to share), they may be posts about other peoples work, or they may be posts about any other topic that relates to arts and crafts such as business vs. hobby discussions, selling tips and troubles, the adventures of art shows, etc.

There may be some days where I make multiple posts, and others that only have one. Saturday I may be able to make a post on, but as Saturdays are often so busy I didn’t come up with a theme for it.  And, on Sundays, I will not be making any posts.  It is a day of rest and I plan to honour that.
